The first thing to do is check with your local web casters or the Internet to make sure when the date is for the meteor. Meteor showers can take place several times a year around the world. The best time to watch a shower is between midnight and sunrise. For this is the time the Earth is pointed in the direction of the meteor's debris. The best way to see a spectacular meteor shower is get out of the city and into an open area where there are no lights. City lights and air pollution will make the shower less visible. Binoculars and telescopes are not necessary. The streaks of light will appear for about 3 seconds.
